Amazon has introduced the option to set up custom holidays in Seller Central. This allows you to define individual business hours and makes the calculation of delivery times more realistic. This innovation reduces manual effort and eases the workload for warehouse operations and customer service.

What do sellers need to keep in mind?

  • Accurately map regional holidays: Regional holidays that were not automatically considered by Amazon should be actively maintained via custom holidays. This ensures delivery times are calculated correctly and late shipments are avoided. This reduces performance risks without increasing operational workload.

  • Replace holiday mode with custom holidays: Instead of activating holiday mode—for example, between years—and thereby deactivating listings completely, the relevant days should be recorded as holidays. This way, products remain visible and purchasable, and customers automatically see realistic delivery dates. This protects revenue potential and prevents ranking losses due to unnecessary listing downtime.

  • Integrate holidays into shipping and capacity planning: The maintained holiday settings should be firmly embedded into operational shipping and personnel planning. By coordinating warehouse capacity, cut-off times, and customer service resources early on, peaks before and after holidays can be managed efficiently. This reduces support volume, stabilizes delivery performance, and increases customer satisfaction in the long term.
