Amazon has clarified the requirements for product titles: From July 27, 2026, titles in all categories except media may contain a maximum of 75 characters including spaces. Promotional statements, certain special characters, and word repetitions are not allowed.
Additional product information can be provided in the future via the item highlights. For this, an additional 125 characters are available, which appear in search results and on detail pages, and are searchable. Titles that are still too long after July 27 will be gradually replaced by Amazon with AI-generated suggestions.

What do sellers need to watch out for?

  • Start preparing now – time your upload carefully: Titles and item highlights should already be prepared internally, since updating large catalogs can be very time-consuming. Upload can be done until July 27; make sure in advance that the highlights are correctly shown on the frontend so that no shortened title goes live without supplementary information.

  • Reduce titles to 75 characters & use highlights: From July 27, 2026, product titles must be shortened to a maximum of 75 characters—with a focus on brand, product type, and key purchasing criteria. Remaining information, such as materials or areas of use, can be included in the new item highlights with up to 125 characters.

  • Actively avoid Amazon’s AI suggestions: If titles are not updated by July 27, Amazon will gradually replace them with automatically generated suggestions. These often do not meet quality requirements, so we recommend checking the content yourself at an early stage.
