Amazon has removed the Contact Customer Button in the Customer Reviews Dashboard in Seller Central. Sellers can no longer proactively contact customers following a negative review unless the customer initiates the conversation first.
This mainly affects sellers who previously used the dashboard to resolve issues such as damaged goods, shipping errors, or unclear user experiences after a review. The change strengthens Amazon’s stance against review manipulation but also reduces direct opportunities for service recovery after critical feedback.
What do sellers need to consider?
Secure reviews proactively: Since direct contact after a negative review is no longer possible, sellers should specifically check product detail pages, manuals, and packaging notes for frequent causes of complaints. Recurring topics from 1- to 3-star reviews should be addressed monthly through content and product measures.
Initiate customer service contact earlier: Customer service should become more visible before the review stage, for example, through clear support information in permitted packaging inserts and fast responses to buyer messages. The goal is to resolve issues before the review, without violating Amazon’s communication guidelines.
Systematically analyze negative reviews: For larger ASIN numbers, it is worth using a review analyzer to systematically evaluate positive and negative review reasons. Feel free to contact us if you need support with the analysis. We help identify patterns and derive concrete optimization measures.
