Amazon is now expressly urging sellers to fully comply with the requirements of the new General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) — otherwise, listings may be deactivated within 24 hours. The GPSR came into force at the end of 2024, and Amazon is now tightening its enforcement: Anyone who does not correctly or completely provide GPSR-relevant information risks serious consequences. Amazon differentiates between those who have already provided GPSR details and those who haven’t, and gives separate instructions for both groups. However, the system implementation is being criticized — according to sellers, it is often faulty and displays outdated data.

What do sellers need to consider?

  • Submit compliance data immediately: Sellers without previous GPSR information should register their brand and provide manufacturer and contact details in the “Seller Performance” section.

  • Update & supplement existing data: Sellers who have already submitted information must upload specific email addresses, safety documents, or certificates, even if there are no warning notices.

  • Actively check for system weaknesses: Regularly review GPSR data in Seller Central, as Amazon may sometimes display outdated information. Incorrect or missing details can quickly lead to listing deactivation.
