Since June 22, 2026, the OTTO Partner Portal has offered a new method for product listing and inventory maintenance: the Excel upload. Alongside manual listing and API integration, this provides a third option—especially relevant for sellers who don’t have technical resources.
A maximum of 10,000 lines are allowed per file, and only the official OTTO templates may be used. These are structured by category, meaning that a separate file must be uploaded for each category group. Partial uploads are possible; any products not included remain unchanged. Important: Empty cells overwrite existing values for products that have already been set up, which can cause unintended data loss.
What do sellers need to consider?
Templates are not interchangeable: The product list that can be exported regularly via the Download product list button is not suitable for a re-upload. Instead, the separate template function in the partner portal must be used. Each template is category-specific and includes five worksheets: instructions, column explanations, template (one row per SKU), GPSR product safety, and attribute values.
Empty cells delete existing data: Anyone updating existing products via Excel must ensure that empty cells in the file irreversibly overwrite existing product values. The same applies to the separate shipping profile and inventory template: both worksheets are processed together during the upload, so outdated entries in the file overwrite current inventory values.
Correct upload errors specifically: After each upload, the partner portal shows the status per file: green means successfully processed, red indicates errors. Faulty files can be downloaded with red-marked cells and an error message in column A, corrected directly, and uploaded again. This saves time compared to creating everything from scratch.
