Starting December 15, 2025, Amazon will automatically introduce the XRechnung electronic invoicing format for domestic B2B transactions in Germany—two years ahead of the legal requirement from January 1, 2027. XRechnungen will only be generated for Amazon Business customers who have actively selected this format in their account settings. Invoicable offers become more visible as many business customers specifically filter for them.

What do sellers need to consider?

  • Secure invoice eligibility in advance: Activate the VAT Calculation Service in good time to automatically issue XRechnungen starting December 15, 2025. Your offer will then receive an invoice badge, which many Amazon Business customers actively filter for. Without XRechnung, your visibility in the B2B segment drops significantly, directly impacting conversion rate and revenue.

  • Use net prices for Amazon Business customers: A key advantage of the VAT Calculation Service is the automatic display of net prices for Amazon Business customers. Business customers primarily compare net prices, not gross. By enabling this, you ensure correct price comparisons and higher chances for the Buy Box in the B2B environment, while avoiding structural visibility disadvantages.

  • Strategically separate tax processes: Amazon exclusively creates VAT invoices. Topics such as OSS, VAT pre-registration, Intrastat, or multichannel reporting remain entirely your responsibility. As your B2B or EU business grows, you should proactively establish external VAT tools and clearly defined tax processes early on to avoid scaling risks until 2027.
