Starting from May 1, 2026, Amazon will implement a change in the calculation of removal and disposal fees. These fees will now be charged per unit at the time of removal or disposal, rather than after completion of the entire order. The fee amount remains unchanged, but sellers will now gain more detailed insights into their activities.
What do sellers need to be aware of?
Adjust cash flow planning: Since fees will now be charged per unit directly upon removal or disposal, the timing of the charge will change. Sellers with large removal orders should review their liquidity planning and allow for buffers for more frequent, smaller debits.
Use the transaction view for control: In the transaction view in Seller Central, starting May 1, you can track which fees have been calculated at the shipment level and when individual units are removed. Regular checks help identify unexpected costs at an early stage.
Rethink your removal strategy: If you have previously bundled larger removal orders to keep track, you should consider whether the new per-unit billing provides better cost transparency. Smaller, more frequent orders can now be tracked more easily and included in margin calculations.”
